There is nothing worse than just getting a fresh shirt out of the laundry and then spilling something on yourself. The same feeling applies to your nice clean carpets. The good news is that instead of running to the dry cleaners or tossing your piece of clothing in the trash, there’s a few different household cleaners that actually remove stains quite well. You’ll have your clothes back to a like-new condition in no time. Just take a look at these common stains and their simple removal solutions below for a complete stain kit.

Red Wine Stains

A glass of red wine can be highly enjoyable. A red wine stain is not so great. To get out a red wine stain you’ll need the following:

  • Vinegar
  • Eyedropper
  • Salt

First, you should cover the stain with salt. Then, pour boiling hot water over the stain. Use vinegar in an eyedropper to apply to any of the remaining stain on the clothing or carpet. Let sit. Then, launder or wash the affected material.

Coffee Or Tea Stains

To remove coffee and tea stains, you’ll need:

  • Stain remover or bleach
  • Cold water

Getting out a coffee stain is actually a bit simpler than you may have thought. First, you should treat the stain with a stain remover stick or bleach. Be careful with these items on certain materials. You’ll want to check for colorfastness to make sure that you don’t completely ruin any material using these chemicals. Once you treat the stain, leave the item to soak with cold water for at least 30 minutes. Then, pre-treat the stain again if it still remains before you launder it. Your carpet should be thoroughly washed out as well. You should avoid using bleach on carpets to avoid further staining in case it is a sensitive material.

Grease Stains

To remove grease stains, you’ll need just a couple of simple items:

  • Dish soap
  • Hot water

Treat the grease stain with some dish soap, and let it sit for a few minutes. You’ll then want to launder the item in hot water in order to finish getting the stain out.

Juice Stains

To treat juice stains, you’ll need:

  • Vinegar
  • Cold water

Let the stain soak in cold water. Then, apply vinegar to the stain. Let the vinegar sit and work its way through the stain, making magic happen. Then, launder the items that have been stained. They should come back like new!

Chocolate Stains

Getting out a chocolate stain is also fairly simple. First, you should scrape any remaining chocolate off of the item that has been stained. Next, apply some stain remover to the affected area. Finally, just wash and rinse the item or affected area and let dry.

Stain removal isn’t too much of a headache when you have these common items around the house!

If you know you’d like to buy a home in the future, you’ve probably thought about saving money for all of the upfront costs that buying a home can bring. Saving the sizable amount of money that it takes for a down payment can be seemingly impossible to do. It’s impossible without making yourself seem miserable for a time, at least. You can save money creatively without sacrificing everything. Below, you’ll find some tips for saving money that work for your life.

Put Your Money Somewhere Safe

While investing in the stock market may seem like a good idea to put your savings on hyperdrive, it’s risky. When it comes to your savings, try high interest savings accounts and CDs. The latter is a particularly good option because you won’t be able to touch the money for the time period that the CD will mature. You’ll also earn a bit of interest on the funds that are in there.

If you plan to keep adding to your savings (which you should) a traditional savings account is best. You should have a dedicated account that’s solely for the house fund. Do some shopping around for the savings account that will have the best interest rate and be the easiest option for you. Remember that as boring as a savings account seems, it’s a safe bet for your money.

Apps Can Assist You

There are plenty of budgeting apps and apps that help you to set aside spare change. You should make use of these tools to help you reach your savings goals. Whether you need some help with budgeting or need to find ways to put your spare change to good use, there’s an app for that. You can even find apps that will reward you for good behavior. These apps may “tip” you a few bucks for going to the gym or completing a project on time. You’re saving money and doing good for yourself at the same time! Saving money for your future home can be fun if you find the right tools to help you.

Set Goals

One reason that many people don’t save a lot of money is that they lack specific goals. If you sit down and look at your budget, you’ll see where you can cut expenses. Then, you’ll be able to have clear cut goals of how much you can save on a weekly or monthly basis. With your eyes on the prize of homeownership, you should be motivated to save where you can. Having specific numbers in mind can be a big help in reaching your long-term goals.
